Carroll County was founded in 1842 as a division from Grayson County. It is named for Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland who was the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence.


govt Study aspects of this category include: three courthouse and governmental centers, judges and officials of court, law enforcement (officers, jails, and executions), attorney profession, government and social services, post offices, Board of Supervisors, tax data, State and Congressional representation, and Hillsville town government. Museum displays include photographs, original documents, file and text resources, and published articles.
